Regulations

The organization invites all Senior women and men of the world to participate in the 25th Senior World Championship (50+ 65+) that will be hosted in the city of Acqui Terme (AL).
All players of any category, in good standing with their Federation for the present year, who have reached the age of 50 and 65 (in date 31 December of the year of the tournament), can participate.
According to FIDE regulations the Championship will be divided in 2 tournaments, age Over 50 and over 65 (open and women).

The tournament will have place in the Congress Center of Acqui Terme.
Players and keens can enjoy the program of the event with the addition of numerous collateral events. 
FIDE, FSI, Cristina Pernici Rigo, Michele Cordara and the City of Acqui Terme wish you a pleasant arrival and an unforgettable stay in Piedmont.

  

The Senior World Championship will be played on 11 rounds, Swiss System of pairings. The time is 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. (FIDE rules 2006) Computerized assistance.
Default time for all rounds is 30 minutes


All players of any category, in good standing with their Federation for the present year, can participate.

 

Team of arbiters

There will be arbiters from several countries and we will be able to speak the following languages: ITA, GER, ENG, FRA, ESP, NED, GRE, CZE, KEN, SLO, RUS.
The Appeal Committee will be elected in the technical meeting before the first round: it will be made of 3 members and 2 reserves chosen between the players of the Championship.
In the event of complaints against an arbiter's decision, it must be drawn up in writing to the Chief Arbiter no more than two hours after the end of the round.



The player with the highest score at the end of the tournament will be the winner and Senior World Champion 2015. In case of a tie with one or more players, the tie-breaks are as follows:
a) Result of direct encounters of the players tied (applied if all the tied players have played against each other)
b) Buchholz Cut 1,
c) Buchholz,
d) Biggest amount of games as black,
e) Biggest amount of victories,

The title of "Grandmaster" will be assigned to the winner of the 25th Seniores World Championship 50+ and 65+, who will receive the trophy and gold medal. The second ranked will receive the silver medal and the third the bronze medal.
The same rule applies for the Women World Championship, that will be played separately.


Women Senior World Championship 2015 (50+ and 65+)

The women will play a separate tournament to determine the Woman World Champion 2015 (50+ and 65+).
The same conditions valid for men apply for entries, bookings, payments, regulations and schedule.
In case of a limited number of players, the following rules will be applied:

Minimum number of players 10 women from 2 Continents, a Round Robin tournament will be played.

Within 11 and 30 women, 9 rounds will be played on a Swiss System of pairings.

31 and above, 11 rounds.
