Welcome message

Welcome from the Major of Acqui Terme Enrico Silvio Bertero

I am glad to address once again my warmest welcome to all chess lovers, for an event that will let our city host sportsmen from all over the world.
Acqui has been a center of chess excellence since July 2011, when it hosted the Italian Championship, and in little time it became everyone's favorite: players and directors, followers and supporters. And so the people of Acqui have welcomed, in the past years, the Italian Team Championship under 16, the Italian School Championship, the Italian Championship, The Italian under 20 and Women Championship, and a highly praised International Festival that is growing by the years.
Acqui Terme's "chess call" will be crowned this year by the arrival of the players who will bring to life the Senior World Championship, an event that will make our pride. We are ready to host the excellence of chess, addressing our best salute to the organizers, the players and their followers. We are sure that your stay in this nifty thermal city will represent a precious memory for everyone.

The Major, Enrico Silvio Bertero

Welcome from the President of Italian Chess Federation Giampietro Pagnoncelli

I am pleased to extend greetings on behalf of the Italian Chess Federation which I chair, to the participants of World Senior Chess Championships, this time hosted by the historic town of Acqui Terme. With the hope that these days are all a moment of fun and rewarding sport competition, I thank all those who have actually contributed to the organization and the success of this important event.
Gianpietro Pagnoncelli
President of the Italian Chess Federation

Welcome from the Organizers: I.O. Cristina Pernici Rigo and Michele Cordara

Dear chess players, it is a great honour for us to host the 25th World Senior Chess Championship (50+ 65+) and we intend to make our very best efforts for the success of this world event. It should be remembered that this event is not just an important competition but also a pleasant opportunity to meet fellow chess players from different countries around the world, keeping up the FIDE motto “Gens una Sumus”, we are one people. As organizers, we welcome everybody to this Championship. We would like to thank the sponsors for their valuable support in making this event possible. We wish all the participants and their families and friends a successful tournament and an enjoyable stay in Acqui Terme.
